home sweet home

so i have been really missing a sense of home these days. this is a woodcut project i did on the theme of home. the first photo is the mock up drawing, the 'key' block printed on mylar and the carved blocks. the second photo is after the first printing of the light blue sky background and adding the tissue paper chin colle. then, voila! - the final wood cuts inked on various papers and cloth. this was great fun and i highly recommend it as a habit to cultivate.

hope everyone has a place where you feel at home. xo

Very interesting that your response to the concept of 'home' results in what appears to me to be a cityscape. When I create something on the theme of 'home' I make a single house. Either way, your woodcuts are very cool. Can you explain what "tissue paper chin colle" is?

chin colle is generally when paper (a thin tissue or rice paper) is placed on a print to add color or texture. master printmakers may have more to say about this, but that is my understanding of chin colle.

thanks everyone for your great comments.
