hand applique shapes

another project i am working on this summer is hand applique shapes. oh how i love hand stitching! the shapes are loosely based on words, with the letter E being the place where i cut a circle. the base of the squares is cotton linen from used clothing. the applique shapes are flannel and soil noile.

compost stitching

here are some more images of the compost drawing. i placed some osnaburg cloth and linen in my compost last summer and let it sit for about a month. then i took it out and rinsed it in water, dried it in the sun, pressed. over the past year, i have been playing with it off and on, trying to get the right composition. last week i poured some tea over it and let it dry in the sun some more. i think it's finished now.
