flip dolls

i have been wanting to make a flip doll for a long time. i wanted to make the doll represent the 7 deadly sins and the 7 virtues. i put together a few prototypes, made of cloth. then i decided if i really wanted the contrast of sins and virtues, i needed to go over the top. one side is made papier mache and the other is made of cloth.

sloth-er takes his bike for a ferry ride

an early fall day and sloth-er decides to put his bike on the ferry and go island hopping.

...and they lived happily ever after

yes, the real big hiney (of the 5'10" variety) and the real irritable (5'5") are finally and forever united in beautiful portland maine! love, love, love all day long.

what is big hiney thinking?

he is all alone, without irritable? what is going on? perhaps he is reconsidering a 24 hour leave? or perhaps he is wondering if irritable has dumped him?! stay tuned...

goodbye sock monkey transgressors

saying goodbye to the seven deadly sins for a while and going off to new parts of the world to find my hubby. i'll be back in a few weeks, unless i get swallowed up by his love and can't return.

stinky the sock monkey

look at stinky. doesn't he look cute? he is another member of the seven deadly sins family. as you can see, it says BO under his arm. come to think of it, stinkiness isn't always such a sin. if stuff in my refrig didn't stink after a while, it would stay in there forever (just a reminder to hubby, what life is really like with me!).

i like taking pix of the sock monkeys cuz i get to show off my quilts in the background and my beautiful front porch. here is stinky waving to big hiney across the ocean. luv to U!

have you met this character before? i have only had a few encounters with her, and that was enough for me. stay away!

here is the newest member of our sock monkey family, born while i was away. isn't she cute? i discovered how fun it is to use sweet children's socks and turn them into a deadly sin. where would i be without getting angry from time to time? can't be all sugar and spice everyday.

going to baltimore

BYE! we are closing down the blog for a few days. going to b'more to do some visiting. sloth-er has packed her bags to go. looks like all she is bringing is embroidery threads. what else does she need?? she can't wait to visit her cousin, slothy (see below).






we only have a mug shot of slothy. no family photos. it's a long story...you don't want to know.















before sloth-er leaves, she has to mapquest her way.

happy sock monkey reunion

look! here she is. irritable has been found. she took the long, long trip across the ocean and to the desert to see her love. big hiney can hardly wait for her to jump out of the box and give him a hug!

they are jumping for joy!



after celebrating, they are settling in to watch their favorite tv show, the wire.

here is big hiney in his trailer in the desert, far far away, wondering where his love, irritable, is. he is pining at her picture on the computer, but it makes him feel too sad to know that she is missing.

watching a music video of kate bush and eating a candy bar seems to be the only thing that soothes him. (rock on!)

traveling sock monkeys

one of my best little buddies, jack, is here sleeping with is friends the seven deadly sins sock monkeys. he fell fast asleep on new year's eve, just missing the fireworks over the baltimore harbor.









since his sock monkey friends are now living far away in portland maine, we decided to have them travel, via the post office, and take turns having regular sleep overs at jack's house. the sock monkeys are keeping a travelogue of their journeys.





here is toothache, just back from a visit to baltimore. he returned covered in lots of dog hair, so i know he had a good time there.















now it's shut-up's turn to spend a few days with jack. bye! hope you have a fun time.
