embroidered hubby:)

based very loosely on the work of shizuko kimura, this is a piece for my current opus assignment. you can see what my hubby really looks like in the photo - not such a charicature, and beautiful. i love this photo of him. he is intently inspecting the portside hull of an old boat we are thinking of buying. i got between him and the boat and snapped a pix. the embroidery is a blind contour drawing on linen, stitched with one strand of wool. i could do pieces like this all day long.

about blind contour drawing...if you are a person who is afraid of drawing, as i have been, blind contour is the way to go. it's fun. it's loose. and the results are always pretty good.

I love these embroideries Maggie. I'm not familiar with blind contour drawing? Though I like the results.

Maggie, what an amazing blog you have!:)) I have not really met sock monkeys before but I now know where to come for a cheer up! I have been laughing so much at the antics of your friends - thank you for brightening up a Monday morning. Your blog is so colourful and I like your DH and the contour drawings. I have done these before and they are great fun to do and as you say usually turn out well. I will find some of mine and post them. I'll be visiting again.
